From 2020 I covered motion design for Turner Classic Movies. For the 2020 Classic Film Festival I worked with TCM’s editors on tribute videos to film critic and historian Leonard Maltin and animator Floyd Norman; an outside agency made the logo animation, title cards and interstitials. The editors set content, timing and layout, and TCM gave me real creative freedom to turn that into motion.
Floyd Norman Tribute
The tribute features sketches from Disney and Pixar classics and Floyd Norman’s caricatures of his office at Disney. Along the way I stumbled on a faux sketch reveal using a sin expression with Roughen Edges. It didn’t fit the final shot lengths, but it pushed what I thought I could do.
